Minix Neo X7While we are eagerly waiting for the new Minix Neo X7 quad-core Android set-top box, Minix has released a set of high quality photos of their new baby. We already know that Minix has decided to retain the boxy but classy look of the Neo X5 but now we get to see all the ports and the WiFi antenna in detail.

I must say that the antenna looks massive and seems to be pretty good quality. None of those flimsy looking antennas that look like they will snap the moment you try to adjust its position. Best of all, the Minix Neo X7 has dual band 2.4Ghz/5Ghz WiFi!

Overall the Minix Neo X7 looks really good from the photos and Minix has kept its reputation intact for coming out with well designed products that wouldn’t look out of place in your home theater setup.

Besides the photos, Minix has also provided a spec list for the Neo X7:

  • Quad-Core Cortex A9 Processor
  • Quad-Core Mali-400MP
  • 2GB DDR3
  • 16GB NAND Flash
  • External Antenna
  • Bluetooth, Ethernet, Dual-Band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz)
  • Android Jellybean 4.2
  • 3 x USB Ports + 1 x OTG
  • Microphone Jack
  • Headphone Jack

Although not mentioned in the official spec list, I spotted an optical S/PDIF or TOSLINK port as well. Hopefully this means that the Minix Neo X7 is capable of digital surround sound pass through.
